Learning to trust ourselves, our instincts, and our desires as we create on our canvases, creates ripples of bravery through every aspect of our lives.

Brave Arts, aka Ali, at work on a mural in 2019.

Brave Arts is a one woman company focused on taking the mystery out of art making, and in turn allowing the gifts that it provides to be unearthed

Ali teaches face-to-face Art classes for adults throughout Brisbane.

An average week sees Ali guiding 60+ adult students through the rigours of learning to paint with acrylics including nuanced skills such as drawing, composition and colour theory. Ali is a permanent tutor with Arts Tree in Wynnum West and tutors weekly classes at Aged Care homes and with Mission Australia.

Ali holds a BA in Fine Art from RMIT, Melbourne, 2014, a Dip. of Art Therapy, CECAT, 2023, a current working with children card, an NDIS workers card and is currently completing her Graduate Diploma in Counselling.

When she’s not making or teaching Art, Ali can be found whispering sweet nothings to her plant babies, swimming, or quietly staring into the abyss.

My Values

This is about you, not me

There is not much space in our lives for just ‘us’, is there? All too often we feel the need to bend to those around us in order to get just a little bit of what we truly wanted.

That will not be the case here, I exist in this space in order to help YOU realise YOUR imaginings, I simply can’t do it without you. Whether it as your art teacher, or as a guest in your classroom, painting a mural on your bedroom or boardroom wall, or a canvas dedicated to your childhood teddy bear, it will be about you.

Inclusivity, everyone is welcome

If you are a person, you are welcome in all of my spaces.

If your words or behaviours hurt other people there is an expectation that together, we will work through it… Easy Peasy!

The Biggening

As an Art Tutor I act as a conduit between my student and their Self, a link that can be tenuous even in the most healthy of head spaces.

My classes are about learning new skills, critiquing their execution and creating Art. This critique is objective, rational, fact-based and points to a solution, as opposed to a perceived problem… A far cry from the critical and sometimes mean eye that we’ve grown up with.

It is at this intersection of balanced critique and wild creation that I believe a whole lot of growth happens, an act I call, ‘The Biggening’.

If you’re in a class with me, you’ll grow bigger, braver, and take up more space, you can count on it.
